In September I was asked to be on the Wisconsin Public Radio program “To The Best Of Our Knowledge” with Jim Fleming. The actors in Ruta del Jaca are a unique mix of very famous professionals (like award winning actor Pietro Sibille and the hugely popular singer Sonia Morales), first time actors and people that are just themselves in documentary parts. The audience is left guessing which scenes are acted and which are real.
Matt’s character in Ruta del Jaca (conveniently named Matt Lorenz) swops the New York art scene for the Peruvian countryside to confront his biggest fear He repeats the fatal trip his parents made 20 years earlier during the years of Shining Path terrorism. He enters a mysterious world of ayahuasca shamans and brujos which has a lasting impact on his life.
